The final packing method, packed footprint, freight, and assembly responsibility belong in the written project scope.

Why a generic CBM calculator can mislead packaging buyers
A calculator that multiplies the finished dimensions of one assembled item by the order quantity assumes every unit occupies its full finished volume during shipment. That can substantially misrepresent folding cartons, ear-lock mailers, collapsible structures, nested items, bundled pouches, and any project packed into master cartons under a separate arrangement.
The reliable inputs are the approved packing configuration, units per bundle or carton, master-carton dimensions, carton count, gross weight, and delivery terms. Those values exist after the packing plan is confirmed, not at the first product-idea stage.
Questions to confirm before comparing freight
- Is the packaging supplied flat, folded, collapsed, nested, or assembled?
- Who performs the final assembly or erection?
- Are inserts packed inside, separately, or pre-installed?
- How many units are packed per bundle or master carton?
- What are the approved master-carton dimensions and gross weights?
- What delivery destination and commercial terms apply?
Fixed versus collapsible magnetic boxes
A fixed magnetic box emphasizes an assembled rigid presentation. A collapsible magnetic box is designed to fold flat for storage and delivery before assembly. The visual result can be similarly premium, but the packing, setup, insert, closure, and handling plan are not interchangeable.
Keep freight separate from a visual mockup
A product render or sample image shows the intended finished presentation. It does not prove the shipment configuration. Freight comparisons should use the approved packing list or written packing assumptions for the quoted project.
